A Floral Fireplace

March 30, 2016 by Kristin Jackson No Comments

One of the hardest things for me to change in Chloe’s room was her dollhouse… I had built her a dollhouse a few years ago into the antique fireplace opening.  Sadly, it was one of those things that I really wanted her to play with, but she never really gravitated towards.  It was no longer practical or functional & the insert took up a bit of extra floorspace she could use to play with the toys she does love.… Read More

Painted Umbrella // Gallery Wall

March 29, 2016 by Kristin Jackson 1 Comment

I’ve never really been one for sweet & cutesy murals… but I decided to have a little fun with the bifold doors in Chloe’s room.  These doors, that were previously louvered doors that we easily transformed into paneled doors (tutorial here), have been glossy black for a few years.  They were in need of a new coat of paint, so I decided to take them back to white.… Read More

Spotted Dresser // Ikea Rast

March 28, 2016 by Kristin Jackson No Comments

I was planning on taking new pictures… but between a busy Easter weekend and a dark rainy Monday Morning, we are just going to work with what I have already πŸ™‚  Because the process was beyond simple.
As I mentioned before, I fell & fell hard for the Kate Spade Downing Desk when it we debuted last year.  It basically epitomizes everything I love in one piece of furniture.… Read More

Hidden Roller Shades

March 23, 2016 by Kristin Jackson No Comments

One of the main issues we have always had with these doors/windows is the window treatments.  Especially now that it is used as a bedroom vs. a dining room, room darkening is necessary.  Curtains are out because the dresser sits against the windows.  I have used roman shades & natural fiber shades, but was not pleased with the aesthetics.  This time, as I was rebuilding this entire wall, I decided to get a little sneaky.… Read More

Painting the Builtins Green

March 17, 2016 by Kristin Jackson 1 Comment

The main catalyst in rearranging my daughter’s room all revolved around her “closet”  or lack thereof.  As this room was technically our dining room years ago, it does not have a proper closet.  So we have made do by incorporating garment rods into the bookcases we built about 4 years ago.  And they have been perfect, until school uniforms came around.… Read More

Looking at the Details

March 15, 2016 by Kristin Jackson No Comments

When traveling we find ourselves constantly being pulled towards places with great history.  There is something about entering a world so familiar yet from another time.  If available, I usually try to find a historical home tour while vacationing & upon my return, I look at my photos & find similarities to my own home.
Whether your style is traditional, modern, bohemian there are always elements to appreciate & takeaways from these historical tours, because as we know what was once old is soon new again.… Read More

February 12, 2016 by Kristin Jackson No Comments

I am so excited to be able to finally reveal how I styled the amazing items from the Second Annual Taylor Burke Home Style It Challenge!  I had mentioned towards the end of last year, that I had been selected to participate along with talents Lisa Mende from Lisa Mende Designs & Kristin Cadwallader from Bliss at Home.  To remind you, the challenge was to style some pretty amazing items that are all showcased at Taylor Burke Home’s gorgeous Atlanta Showroom.… Read More

A lot of my clients prefer to not share their homes on the site… which I totally understand. Β So when I paired up with one of my best friends (& fellow blogger) to complete a room in her new home for the One Room Challenge I was so excited to be able to share the process with you all. Β It is so fulfilling to be able to create a space for someone & know that they absolutely love every inch of it. Β … Read More
