Ikea Coffee Table Makeover + Fab Rug Review

June 14, 2013 by Kristin Jackson 49 Comments
So we have been the home of the rotating coffee tables.  Remember these [ Painted Marble + Tufted Ottoman ] ?  Well I loved the idea of the faux marble one, but the size wasn’t right… it was a hand me down.   And the tufted ottoman was just the dumbest mistake I have ever made.  We eat nearly every meal in the living room (hate to admit) so between dinner plates resting on tufts & a two year old constantly spilling her milk IN THE TUFTS!… Read More

Wooden Marquee Light: A Pseudo DIY

March 18, 2013 by Kristin Jackson 36 Comments
I have been searching for the right Vintage Marquee Light in the right size in the right color for a while now… basically looking or a needle in a haystack.  And all the DIY Tutorial’s out there have been out of foam core or poster board… I needed something a little more stable.  So when I came across the shop Virago Demure on Etsy, I knew they could make the letter I wanted at the size that I wanted.… Read More

Gold Leaf Terracotta Pots

February 19, 2013 by Kristin Jackson 20 Comments

In working through some ideas for our new outdoor space I knew I needed to update some of our terracotta pots.  Some are new, some are really old & worn (which I love) so when I saw the image below (found on Gardenista) I knew I could create a cohesive look with all of our random pots.

To achieve this look all you need are a few items:
Terracotta Pots
Gold or Silver Leaf
Size (the glue to adhere the Metallic Leaf)
Spray Sealer for Metallic Leaf
All of the leafing items are all in the same section of the craft store & easy to find.… Read More

Flush Mount: A Look for Less

February 7, 2013 by Kristin Jackson 57 Comments
First off, how is it already February?!?  This week has completely gotten away from me.  Chloe is in a big “Mom DON’T Work” phase & throws fits every time I sit down at the computer.  Which is super awesome & allows me to be really productive.  {enter sarcastic tone}  Plus, the hubs had a few extra days off which  was extremely fortunate because our Water Heater blew.… Read More

The Shelves are UP!

September 20, 2012 by Kristin Jackson 14 Comments
What started as the discussion to add a single narrow shelf in our dining room, turned into this… & boy am I happy it did!  With some careful planning, some wrong cuts & lots of caulk we were able to build this wrap around library all by ourselves.
When it came to styling, I went with more of a library feel (as I had more books than things to use) of course this is something that can evolve over time.… Read More

Stacked Log Tutorial

September 18, 2012 by Kristin Jackson 49 Comments
I have loved the look of a fully stacked fireplace for years now.  (& have even suggested it to a few clients with no bites…)  Knowing full & well the hubs would never let me stack a real fireplace (that we don’t even have) I just put this idea in the ole vault for future use.
Not being in the market for a fireplace mantle at all, I stopped by my favorite Antique Market, Dupre’s, I spotted a vintage fireplace surround.… Read More

Bye Bye Louvered Doors! Hello Paneled!!

September 17, 2012 by Kristin Jackson 24 Comments
Since we were tackling the rest of the dining room, we went ahead and fixed something that has bothered us from the day we moved in.  These lovely bi fold louvered doors (that the hubs promptly pulled slats out of as soon as we decided to tackle this)…  They served their purpose.  They hid our washer & dryer & all that goes with that, but they were the el cheapo special, poorly installed & crazy hard to keep clean.… Read More

DIY Drop In Seat Cushion

August 8, 2012 by Kristin Jackson 21 Comments
I introduced you all to my little blogging corner yesterday & wanted to share my latest little vintage beauty.  I came across this rattan chair (with 90% of the rattan still in tact) a month or so ago at my favorite Antique Market, Dupre’s on Marietta Square.  It had some fun lines but it definitely needed some lovin’.
I took her home for $50 & within 30 minutes I got the jigsaw out & shortened the arms… wasn’t planning on that part, but it needed to be able to slide under the desk a little better.… Read More
