MY DAY AT THE HGTV DREAM HOME

This post is sponsored by Belgard.

I just had the best experience and it was chockfull of inspiration for our new home.  I was one of the fortunate few who were able to go and preview the HGTV® Dream Home 2020 located on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.  I had only seen images of the previous HGTV Dream Homes, so being able to walk through (and even have dinner!!) at the latest home was heaven!  I was invited to experience the home thanks to Belgard.  Hopefully you have heard of them, but if not… Belgard is the company responsible for all of the exterior hardscaping.  And let me just give you a spoiler alert… the outdoor space is really the star of the show.

Lets start off with a little tour of some of my favorite details, shall we?

The front approach is quintessential Southern Charm, with the welcoming double entry front porch and rocking chairs.  The Blue shades chosen for the siding and the shutters reflect the beautiful tones of the sky and it’s reflection upon the surrounding ocean vistas.  I especially appreciate the creative use of Belgard pavers on the driveway.  Long are the days where poured concrete are your only solution.  The mix of paver sizes and the choice to lay them on the diagonal adds a modern touch to the traditional architecture.

Upon entering the home you are greeted by an open floorplan that makes you feel as if you are inside and out at the same time.  The windows and doors in each space maximize your view of this scenic location.  I’m not sure I would ever have the doors closed!!  Especially since the enormous screened in back porch has remote controlled screens that open and close all at the press of a button.

Brian Patrick Flynn, the designer (and uber talented friend!) played on beach hues to outfit the entire home.  His deep blues and teals outfitted the main living area, kitchen and dining area.  He balanced the fine line of feeling luxe while still feeling comfortable.  This certainly felt like a home you could curl up and read a book in or entertain family and friends!

The Laundry Room was one of my favorite spaces in the home.  It was no ordinary Laundry Room, it was the size of our new kitchen!

And outfitted to accommodate any and every dog lover, with a built in oversized kennel, leash and toy storage rack and even a dog washing station.  All thought out and executed gorgeously.  Here is a look at the dog washing sink.  Note, there is a second full size sink to rinse your clothes or cut flowers in here as well.  A dream for sure.

Gallery Walls filled the home, with unexpected items filling in as art.  A favorite detail was the use of driftwood as art in the entry stairwell and master bedroom.  The way the light and shadows bounced around them throughout our time in the home made it feel as if the views were ever changing.

The warm coral and pink colors that filled the master suite, felt like and island sunset.

The master bath was filled with even more graphic tiles. You know I am a sucker for black and white.

And a little portrait vignette.

Remember earlier when I said the backyard featuring Belgard was a showstopper?!  Take a look at this!

Can you even?!  This is literally what my outdoor dreams are made of.  It also made me really miss our old outdoor space.  Must add outdoor projects to our to do list for the new home!!

I am a sucker for pavers inlayed in grass.  Especially when the grass is zero maintenance aka synthetic turf!  My mind was blown when Belgard shared that the turf was pre-cut so the pavers would fit perfectly in place.  Genius!  After cutting synthetic turf at our last home, this would have been a welcome feature!

Now this was the part my husband was jealous of…

This outdoor kitchen over looking the water was an entertainers paradise.  And now I can say that I had a low country dinner in this stunner of a backyard! Not too shabby.
