As a designer I have to pay attention to trends. This includes fabrics, patterns, furniture styles and most importantly paint color trends. I have been noticing similarities throughout the fashion and home market place for a while now… natural terracotta hues are popping up everywhere these days!
The warmth of this hue radiates off of whatever it is painted on. Its natural tones look great paired with blush pinks, greens and deep blues. Basically anything that looks beautiful planted in a terracotta pot would make a lovely color companion to Cavern Clay!
To bring a little of this color into my own home I decided to create a simple folding screen out of basic bifold doors. I attached two sets together using small hinges to create four folding panels and covered every inch in Sherwin-Williams Emerald® Urethane Trim Enamel in Satin. The Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel is perfect for wood projects such as this. Feeling inspired, I added some abstract white brushstrokes across the entire folding screen creating a one-of-a-kind piece of art that makes a big impact.
Folding screens or room dividers are a great way to be able to incorporate new colors into your own home without having to take to the walls. They provide a large enough space to create a spectacular moment on their own. A perfect solution for renters, or dorms! They can lay flat against a wall and used as a headboard, tucked into a corner to add visual interest or used in a foyer instead of a console. And the beauty of creating your own is you can add as many panels as you need!
Cavern Clay really plays nicely against our deep blue sofa as well. The warm folding screen against the cooler velvet tones are a really good juxtaposition. I love how unexpected this color combination is.
Walls aren’t the only thing that can be painted a new and exciting color. Where would you incorporate Sherwin-Williams® Cavern Clay?!
