NEW VELVET SECTIONAL + NEW LIVING ROOM LOOK

A few weeks back, I mentioned how in love I am with this certain moody blue green hue.  Like all of the heart eyes, head over heels in love with this color.  I just knew I had to incorporate it into our home.  Some way, some how.  Evaluating how we utilize our living room, I was quick to notice that we all tend to pile on the sofa and our large tufted armchair would get no love.  It sat empty 95.7% of the time.  This led me to rethink our current layout and had me looking into sectionals… something I have never considered for this space before being that it is a smaller space.  Who knew that the Sven Sectional from Article was the perfect size for our space.  I was hesitant to lose an additional chair (mentally) but it simply made sense for our family to have a longer sofa with the addition of the chaise to lounge on.

I was fully prepared to have to have a piece recovered to achieve the exact color I was dreaming of, but this particular shade of Pacific Blue was one of their many stocked colors to choose from.  Even though I was positive that this was the shade we would order, I went ahead and ordered fabric swatches of all of our options.  Once they arrived, the hubs and I both agreed that Pacific Blue was the way to go.  I was also impressed that so many of Article’s pieces are available in this delicious shade.  Chairs, ottomans, benches and multiple sofa styles.  Even pillows!

I am so thrilled with our choice in both color and style.

It can be intimidating ordering a major piece of furniture, sight unseen.  Especially a sectional.  You want to sit in it, try it out… but having already worked with Article in the past (the cousin’s gorgeous dining table!!) I knew that the quality would be there.  As soon as it was delivered all of my hesitations were gone.  This is one of the most comfortable sofas we have ever had.

But still, my favorite thing is still that color.  Drool. Worthy.

I love our white walls with the moulding (did you notice the addition of the dentil moulding?!) and still adore our black ceiling.  After we added the black and white area rug I felt like our black sofa just kind of lost something in the space.  We needed something… a wow factor.  I wanted some color, but nothing that screamed COLOR!  The sophistication of this blue checked off that box for me.

It also worked so well with our existing pieces.  My score of a lifetime burled wood coffee table was the perfect scale for the Sven Sectional.  And the warm wood pairs so nicely.

The past few years I have moved our bar cart to the window for Christmas as there has always been a bit of furniture shuffling to accommodate our tree.  I have wanted to keep it in this location, but our furniture did not allow for that.  So after the Sven Sectional arrived I moved it to that location and knew that was where it was supposed to be.

We all fit, with room to spare, on the new sectional.  But one of my favorite tips for a smaller space is to have accent chairs and ottomans throughout the house that are easy to move and accommodate guests when needed.

The loose seat and back cushions, along with the included bolsters all being that dreamy blue did not need covering up with a ton of accent pillows.  Much to my husband’s surprise.  What is it with Husband’s and pillows by the way?! lol.  I kept it simple and tonal by using two accent pillows in a lighter blue and a deep green.  These provided me with pillows to accommodate my need to snuggle up with, but they do not pull focus either.  See honey, they are functional!

I’ll be sharing more about this space throughout the week, but just had to share my adoration for our new Article Sectional with you all.  So if you are in the market for new furniture that is even more stunning in person, be sure to check them out.
