One Room Challenge // Week 1 the Before

I am so thrilled to be participating in the One Room Challenge this round!! I got a taste of it last year when Cassie brought me on to help design her Living Room and I am going to call that one a success… as it was named House Beautiful’s Most Like Instagram post of 2015. No big thing… I kid. I basically fainted when I heard that! So apparently I have a lot to live up to in my next space.
For those of you who are coming over to my site for the first time, Welcome!! I am an Interior Designer who spent my earlier years designing International Hotels & fell into blogging almost five years ago. Since then I have updated our 1000 sq.ft. home to suit the ever changing needs of my family of four. While I continue to update things around our home, we are definitely out of rooms to overhaul. Enter my friend’s new (to them) home.
My friends moved into their new home last year and have big plans for a massive renovation in the upcoming months. The one area of their home that will not be covered in drywall dust will be their Master Suite. As this area will act as a retreat away from all of the construction, I wanted to provide them a finished space to truly relax in. I know how daunting these projects can be, and having a complete space certainly helps you to get through some frustrating nights thinking “this will never be done!” So while their reno will take a lot longer than six weeks, this One Room Challenge will not!
Here is the room as it sits today…

Perfectly fine. But we can do better than fine!! Utilizing their existing Headboard & Nightstands, we are going to make this their room instead of just their furniture in someone’s old room. It’s amazing how simply repainting a space can instantly make it yours.
And interestingly enough… my favorite space in the entire room and for what I have planned for it is this odd narrow linen closet. Those wire racks will be exiting very soon and making way for something pretty fabulous. Hopefully!!

I will be back every Wednesday for the next five weeks sharing every inch of this design process. So make sure you come back next week to see the inspiration for this space. It is full of color, but not like you might think.
Also, be sure to check out all of the talent participating this round as well!!
