Yet another change…
I just can’t put that paint brush down! My little blogging corner has been updated again. All thanks to paint. The kitchen was just feeling really white & needed something to help balance the visual weight of the chalkboard wall.
So I updated it with some leftover glossy black. I think it is amazing what a little paint can do.
I also finally made a drapery panel for this end of the kitchen. This was simply a canvas drop cloth that I stenciled eons ago. I have been wanting to hang it for months & finally had a minute to get it up. I love how it ties in the cornice board over the sink.
I also didn’t have quite enough white ceramics or china to display… so I cheated. I followed a crazy simple tutorial I found from Sugar and Charm, & poured paint into cheapo vases & let it drip out. It created a back painted effect that blends the diy versions right in with the rest of our collection until I find real pieces I love.
I am loving the high contrast back in my little world.
Happy Monday!

It looks amazing in black! It really is a statement piece. π Megan
I am loving the black – really makes that beautiful piece shine! And I'm totally digging on that stenciled cornice – well done!
Glossy black paint is awesome! Love the way it all looks!
Please!!!
I have been looking for the fabric on your chair everywhere! Can you please tell me where you got it???

Thank you!!!

Thanks! It's Waverly Desert Flower Santa Maria
I think that hutch and desk were meant to be black; really anchors that corner and creates a different zone from the kitchen. Back painted glass looks so different from spray painted glass … those vases really do blend in nicely. Looks great as always. Robin
Agree with your gut and Robin. The necessary 'one black piece in the room' is stupendous. Glad you put your stencil cloth up and do I want to ask how long that took? Tied in with other like it always was meant to be. And the vases were silly cool prop styling. Yay you!!!
Wow!! your desk/hutch looks wonderful in black and I like the pattern on your drapes.
Hooray for black paint! Looks fabulous, Kristin!
Beautiful!
Ah, Kristen – so amazing! Love the glossy black and the drop-cloth stenciled panel – so so good!
What would we do without our paint?!! Love the white collection against it!
Love the gloss black…and that drop cloth curtain panel! Such a pretty little corner to work in!
Not only do I love the black but I love the gloss! It's perfect in your kitchen.. the fabric on that chair is awesome too!
I must admit, this glossy black finish is soo much more beautiful!
SO gorgeous! And that fabric on your chair is so pretty, too! Wow, I just love this little corner that you have!
WOW! It looks amazing! The desk, the drapes, the pottery! Perfection girl!
This looks so incredible! The white was beautiful, but in the space, the black really makes an impression and stands out. I took the time a few weeks back to go back through every single one of your posts, and you are so incredibly talented and inspiring. I can't wait to try some of your strategies and suggestions. Well done!
Sarah
Love the glossy black! It looks stunning. Can I ask where you got the fabric for the curtain (or the name of it)? It's beautiful!
Thanks Andrea! It's actually a stenciled drop cloth π
Where did you get that little side table by your desk? I'm looking for something just that size! And I'm loving the black π
It's another thrift store find… It was actually a plant stand I added a marble top to. Here is the link about it: http://thehuntedinterior.blogspot.com/2012/07/hairpin-leg-table.html
Wow I thought when you got that piece it looked nice, but now? Sooooo much better. It is seems so bland in the before pictures now that you put the high loss paint on it!! Love it even more!
Such a beautiful space! I just received my order of the same Santa Maria Desert Flower fabric you used on your chair seat. Have had my eye on it for some time now. Will be reupholstering a chair in it in the next week or so. LOVE the bold yummy colors.
